Like any other software vendor,
Siebel periodically releases newer versions of
their CRM software to introduce new features and
incorporate additional industry best practices
to its suite of products. Siebel upgrades often
require professional help because it usually involves
a simultaneous database upgrade and/or incorporating
new features.
If an organization is standardizing
on a particular RDBMS which is not part of their
Siebel landscape, then that requires a migration
of the underlying database as well – for
example, migrate from Microsoft SQL Server to
Oracle. Our Siebel team understands the nuances
of Siebel migrations and you can be rest assured
leaving the complex job to us.
Polaris Siebel team has done various
upgrades since the early versions in 1998. We
are witnessing a growing demand from customers
for help in upgrading to the latest Siebel 8 version.
Polaris follows an onsite-offshore
engagement model for upgrades resulting in maximum
savings for clients. This model is illustrated
in the schematic below:
While each Siebel
upgrade is a unique exercise, the following framework
is adopted in all our Siebel upgrades and necessary
changes are applied as needed.
Upgrade Validation is an important
step in any Siebel upgrade/migration project,
particularly when it also involves a simultaneous
upgrade of the RDBMS. Polaris will perform Upgrade
validation by applying business process to an
exact set of sample data before and after the
upgrade is completed. The Polaris project manager
helps identify the business processes that will
be undertaken for this exercise during the design
phase.
